Teach and live in Surrey
Filled with heritage and culture, Surrey is one of the most beautiful regions in England.
Surrey is a county in South East England and is one of the home counties. It borders Kent to the east, West Sussex to the south, Hampshire to the west and south-west, Berkshire to the north-west and Greater London to the north-east. The county town is Guildford.
Surrey County Council is based in Kingston upon the Thames which is now part of London. With a resident population of 1.1 million, Surrey is the most densely populated and third-most-populous county in the South East region.
Surrey is known for being a particularly wealthy county due in large part to its proximity to London and Heathrow and Gatwick airports along with access to major arterial road routes (including the M25, M3 and M23) and frequent rail services into Central London. It has the highest GDP per capita of any English county and some of the highest property values outside Inner London. The county is said to have the highest proportion of millionaires in the UK. The average wage in Surrey is bolstered by the high proportion of residents who work in financial services.
Surrey is divided in two by the beautiful chalk ridge of the North Downs, running east-west. The county ranges from the highly populated areas in the north next to London to prosperous market towns like Guildford, Godalming and Dorking and gorgeous villages like Churt. It contains some of the most lovely countrysides in the south of England and is the most wooded county in England, with 22.4% coverage compared to a national average of 11.8%.
